COLUMBIA VILLAGES Columbia Real Estate

Columbia has a unique plan for residential development. Residents of the New Town live in either one of nine "villages" or the residential area of Town Center. Collectively, they are most commonly referred to as Columbia?s ten villages . Within each are neighborhoods with names drawn from an historic or literary influence.

Each village and Town Center have a residential community association which is an independent, incorporated, non-profit civic association formed exclusively for the promotion of the common good and welfare of the residents and property owners. Each has similar but separate Articles of Incorporation, By-laws and Covenants. Each has its own community elected Board of Directors.

The community associations administer the village covenants, manage CA?s community buildings, advocate for their residents in all aspects of community life, and foster community participation on a grassroots level.

The community association office is located in the village's community center building. Each community center has a unique design and "personality". In the community centers you will find classes for everyone from tots to senior citizens and space to rent for meetings, parties and special events. The community associations also sponsor free seminars, political forums, fairs and holiday parties. Activities sponsored by the various community associations are open to all residents of Columbia regardless of the village in which you live.

The village staff is knowledgeable and always happy to talk with residents. Your village community association is a place where you should feel comfortable coming to share your concerns, suggestions and feelings about your neighborhood--you will always be welcomed.
